Freetown Conservation Commission Votes to Hire Per-Diem Agent, Adopt ePlace Platform

FREETOWN — February 26, 2024 — Freetown Conservation Commission unanimously approved seven actions at its February 26 meeting, including authorizing a search for a per-diem conservation agent at up to $40 per hour and adopting the state's ePlace electronic filing system. The commission cleared a negative determination for a no-new-impervious addition to Fire Station No. 3 at 25 Bullock Road, approved repaving at the 209 Middleboro Road state boat ramp by hand tools only, granted the Taunton River Watershed Alliance permission for a 15-person guided walk at Porter Pasture on March 27 with liability insurance naming the town, and approved an order of conditions for a Ready Rock retaining wall replacement at 61 Cliff Drive. A disputed land claim by David Rosa over a paper-road strip at zero Metawa Heights was continued pending legal research, with a warrant article deadline of April 4. An offer by Peggy Wilin to donate small paper-street parcels along County Road was deferred pending confirmation of whether abutting owners had been offered the lots first.
