Freetown Conservation Commission Continues Two Subdivision Hearings to November

FREETOWN — October 28, 2024 — Freetown Conservation Commission continues two subdivision hearings amid drainage complaints. The commission voted unanimously at its October 28 meeting to continue both a notice of intent for a proposed eight-lot residential subdivision at 32 Middleboro Road and a single-family home application at zero Bryant's Neck Road to its November 25 meeting, pending peer review and a site visit respectively. Downstream farmer Frank Ashley warned the commission that a shrunken retention pond in revised plans for the Middleboro Road project — presented by engineer Jason Yuish of Outback Engineering for applicant James Simmons — could overflow into his cranberry bog and pasture during heavy storms, noting he had already spent $31,000 on a 36-inch culvert to manage existing runoff. The commission separately approved an order of conditions for a solar array on an existing cranberry bog at 81 Middleboro Road and directed an unnamed property owner at 144 Chase Road to retain a civil engineer over alleged wetland buffer violations involving a farm road and riprap placement.
