Freetown Conservation Commission Tables Estelle Road Extension, Clears Four Other Items

FREETOWN -- February 12, 2024, Freetown Conservation Commission clears four properties and tables a disputed five-year extension request. The three-member commission, Chair Charlie Sullivan, Steve Tripp, and Margaret French, voted unanimously on all items at the February 12 meeting, issuing certificates of compliance for 3 Friend Street and 61 Cliff Drive and an order of conditions for 30 Island Road incorporating natural-heritage mussel-sweep requirements. The commission also approved a wetlands restoration plan for 22 South Main Street, requiring planting of 86 trees, shrubs, and ferns by June 30, 2024, to remediate an enforcement-order clearing violation. The one contested matter, a renewal request for 13 Estelle Road's order of conditions, first issued in 2019 and already extended once, was tabled to the first March meeting after Sullivan said he could not confirm a valid building permit remained in place and characterized on-site activity over the past year as not substantial.
