Freetown Conservation Commission clears two compliance filings, hires Copicut gatekeeper
FREETOWN — June 1, 2023 — Freetown Conservation Commission unanimously cleared two long-standing wetlands orders and hired a seasonal gatekeeper at its June 1 meeting. The board voted to issue certificates of compliance for 21 Spellman Road on two separate filings — DEP file 02-6040-2, covering a deck installation completed several years ago, and DEP file 03-95, covering a septic system upgrade under a 2004 order of conditions. The commission also voted to appoint Lexi Rocca as a seasonal gatekeeper at Copicut Pasture, effective May 26, 2023, reaffirming the position's pay at the current state minimum wage of $15 per hour — a rate the Select Board must also formally set before compensation can be processed. Chair Kevin Durant presided remotely from an active field inspection, with Commission Administrator Victoria managing the agenda on site. All four votes passed unanimously on roll call.
