Freetown Conservation Commission Clears Seven Items, Approves Online Permitting Deal

FREETOWN -- June 10, 2024, Freetown Conservation Commission approves online permitting contract and seven other items in unanimous June 10 session. The commission voted to enter a contract with Full Circle Technologies for online permitting, but only after Commissioner Chris Mather successfully attached a condition requiring a 3 percent credit card surcharge be passed to applicants to avoid the town absorbing processing costs; the contract now heads to the Select Board for final approval. The board also issued negative determinations on three septic and construction filings, at 35 Central Avenue, 18 Leonard Street, and 30 Roundville Drive, and approved a drainage-focused plan modification at 31 Innovation Way for the Redevelopment Authority. Four seasonal and part-time staff were reappointed through June 30, 2025, including gatekeepers Mark Roacher and Lexi Roacher at minimum wage, open space consultant Mike McHugh as a volunteer, and conservation agent Adeline Bellissime at $40 per hour. The meeting ended with an informal discussion about a potential office relocation to Fire Station No. 2, with a joint Board of Selectmen meeting tentatively set for July to address public access concerns.
