Select Board Re-Votes on 13 Items After February Open Meeting Law Violation

FREETOWN -- March 22, 2023, Freetown Select Board re-voted on more than a dozen items from its February 17 meeting after determining that session violated the state open meeting law. Meeting via Zoom at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, the board approved all 13 items unanimously, including a $38,000 engineering services agreement with Greenman-Pederson, Inc. for the South Main Street Bridge, a reserve fund transfer of $7,763 to the Old Colony School Assessment for transportation, and a second transfer of $21,354.56 to the Bristol County Agricultural School Assessment. The board also approved an insurance policy for the old police station through Cabot Risk, an agreement with the Institute for Human-Centered Design, snowplow operator licenses for the 2022-2023 season, and a house trailer permit at 11 Pleasant Street following a fire. The session began with a redo executive session on police chief contract negotiations before returning to open session for the substantive votes.
