Freetown Select Board closes Town Hall, approves paving and equipment deals

FREETOWN — November 25, 2024 — Freetown Select Board unanimously approved a series of operational actions at its November 25 remote meeting, closing Town Hall on November 29 and December 6 for window replacements. The board, composed of Selectman Carlos Lopes, Selectman Jared Zager, and Selectman George Matthews, voted 3-0 on all items. Members approved a reworked plan for Highway Department equipment, declaring the loader currently at the transfer station surplus and authorizing its trade-in toward a new loader, with costs covered by ARPA funds and existing departmental budgets. The board also approved a $6,301 change order and a separate addendum to the town's paving contract with PJ Keating for work on Dean Street, Danley Drive, and Wentworth Avenue, and renewed a one-year underground fuel tank agreement with Jason's Gas Services Inc. for 2024-2025.
