Freetown Select Board Approves Two Temporary Hires to Plug Staffing Gaps

FREETOWN — February 14, 2025 — Freetown Select Board hires two part-time temporary employees to ease staffing strain in planning and finance offices. The board voted 3-0 Friday morning to approve agreements with Lori Moy, a former ZBA member, as a planning and zoning consultant through April 1, 2025, and Kimly Fails, a former town accountant, as a department assistant through December 31, 2025 — both capped at 10 hours per week. A board member explained the moves are meant to relieve staff in the Town Administrator's office, who have been absorbing planning and ZBA administrative duties while a permanent hire search remains unresolved. The board also accepted resignations from Board of Health senior clerk Riley Manon and parade and fireworks committee member Samantha Dias, and opened a joint executive session with the Board of Health under MGL Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3) to discuss collective bargaining or litigation strategy.
