Freetown Select Board Approves $2.46 Million Bullock Road Land Purchase

FREETOWN — December 15, 2025 — Freetown Select Board unanimously authorizes $2,460,000 Bullock Road land acquisition and sets April 6 municipal election. The board voted Monday night to execute the purchase of the property at Assessor's Parcel 239-038, fulfilling authority granted by voters at the July 28, 2025 special town meeting, with a closing date of January 8, 2026. Town Clerk Cheryl Gostrau briefed the board and public on the election calendar: nomination papers for the April 6 vote become available January 5 at 8 a.m., with a return deadline of February 13 and a voter registration cutoff of March 27 at 5 p.m. The board also amended and closed a January 26 special town meeting warrant, adding a New Leaf Energy solar credit agreement and an assistant animal control officer bylaw position while removing a personnel bylaw update for June. The board approved appointment of Christopher Maderos as acting police sergeant through June 30 and accepted $650 in donations to the Council on Aging from Susan Seo and the Freetown Lions Club.
