Freetown Appoints Zizini to Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical School Committee
FREETOWN — October 23, 2023 — Freetown selects Joseph Zizini as its first Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical School Committee representative. The Select Board and School Committee convened jointly Monday and chose Zizini, a Bristol Plymouth alumnus active in the school's advisory and mentor programs, over retired educator Charles Lapre by a 5-2 vote. The appointment, effective October 24, 2023, runs through June 30, 2024, and covers what officials described as a largely non-voting period ahead of a November election for a full-term seat. The board also tabled a capital stabilization article from the Special Town Meeting warrant after the Finance Committee raised concerns that placing fire station funds there would require a higher vote threshold to access than leaving them in free cash, and voted to restructure the Community Program Director position by separating boat ramp management — a revolving fund that collects and spends roughly $25,000 per season — from broader community programming duties.
