Water & Sewer Commission hires laborer, addresses staffing and meter issues

Water & Sewer Commission · Meeting of February 6, 2026

FREETOWN — Water & Sewer Commission unanimously hires laborer, redirects hydrant duties. The Commission voted to hire Daniel Anthony Fiorentini, III for the posted laborer position and recommended the Personnel Board consider his credentials for higher starting salary or step placement. Chair Robert S.

Parker told the Commission he had directed the Fire Chief to assign hydrant snow removal to the Fire Department rather than to David Thibodeau, the water department's only field employee, citing injury risk and workforce strain. The reassignment addresses a concern that arose after Thibodeau was asked to shovel hydrants following a significant snowstorm. The Commission separately discussed delays in sewer meter calibration through Whitewater and pending laptops for field work, but took no formal votes on those matters.
