Freetown Board of Selectmen advances $26.5 million Council on Aging/Library Community Building project. The board unanimously approved the combined facility, with an estimated total cost of $26.5 million, including approximately $9.5 million in combined savings and nearly $10 million in grant funding, with anticipated borrowing of $7.5 million. Town Administrator Deborah L.
Pettey estimated annual operating costs at approximately $300,000, with a tax impact of approximately $135 per year for the average home valued at $560,000. The board also called a special town election for June 8, 2026 to vote on a debt exclusion to fund the project.
