Planning Board continues three hearings, advances data center bylaw discussion

Freetown Planning Board continued three development applications and directed staff to draft data center bylaws. Chairman Chad S. Carvalho and the board continued hearings for commercial composting at 0 Thomas Lucas Lots, a six-bay contractor facility at 170 Middleboro Road (extended to May 5, 2026), and a manufacturing building and six contractor bays at 186 Middleboro Road, all to April 21.
The board approved a $7,910 invoice to Apex for peer review services and received a cost estimate for Alexandra Drive infrastructure repair, with Town Administrator Deborah Pettey indicating potential foreclosure and covenant removal may be required. Town Planner Nancy Durfee initiated discussion of creating data center regulations before the fall town meeting.
