Board of Selectmen (Town of Freetown) · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Freetown selectmen voted unanimously to keep the football field at Town Beach in its existing orientation, rejecting rotation for enhanced space optimization after a six-month feasibility study by architectural firm Starck. Selectman Jared Zager presented two schematics, but youth football representatives expressed preference for the current layout, citing safety and field-access concerns. The Board also unanimously approved FreeLake Softball's use of a dormant fourth field at KRR, created a Master Plan Implementation Committee, and scheduled a November 9 special town meeting with articles for equipment purchases, infrastructure improvements, and zoning amendments.

In other matters, the Board approved contracts with Johnson Roberts Associates for COA/Library Community Building design, UMass Dartmouth nursing students for vaccine clinics through 2028, and CheckMark Accounting for employee tax services.
