Freetown Finance Committee backs $71,000 Fire Department increase and $16.9 million school budget. Chair Margaret M. French and six members unanimously approved the firefighter position and three budget transfers totaling $4,300 while voting 6-0 to advance the full Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District budget request, with member Lisa A.
Pacheco abstaining after recusing herself. The committee also corrected the Moderator's pay to $190 per meeting in the Annual Town Meeting warrant and approved a $10,000 insurance premium increase. The school vote followed discussion of whether Lakeville could afford the request and concerns about contract raises deemed unsustainable.
