FREETOWN — Council on Aging Library Community Building Committee advances $30 million project toward voter decision. The committee on May 11 approved five sets of prior meeting minutes and finalized informational materials for the June 1 town meeting on the combined library and senior center proposal. Funded through a $9 million state grant, $9.5 million in stabilization funds, and $6.757 million in new municipal borrowing over 20 years, the project will present a quarterly tax impact of approximately $25 at its highest point, declining over the 20-year period.

Nicole Kelleher, library director, and Rebecca Frias, Council on Aging Director, led materials preparation; a community informational meeting is scheduled for May 27 ahead of the June 8 special ballot election.
