Board of Assessors releases $3 million from Overlay Fund.

FREETOWN — Board of Assessors unanimously approves $3 million Overlay Fund release. Chair Paul G. Sadeck and Member Jeffrey D.

Field voted to grant Town Administrator Deb Pettey's request, directing the funds toward construction costs for the proposed Library and Council on Aging building at the June 1st Annual Town Meeting. An internal review found the Overlay funds no longer necessary for their original purpose. The board noted the total Overlay stands at $6.3 million, including $5.5 million currently available and $800,000 scheduled to be added.
