Board appoints Cabral to Finance Committee; reviews FY27 budget needs

Freetown Selectmen appoint Craig Cabral to Finance Committee; outline fiscal 2027 budget priorities. In a combined Finance Committee and Selectmen meeting, Cabral was appointed 7-1, with Finance Committee member Lisa Pacheco dissenting, for a term effective through the next Town Election in 2027. Fire Chief Harrie Ashley Jr., Highway Superintendent Chuck Macomber, and Police Chief Scott Rose presented fiscal 2027 budget requests, with Police noting a $150,000 state grant for body-worn camera equipment and $10,500 annual cloud-storage costs extending through fiscal 2030.

Health Inspectional Services sought increases of $30,000 for PFAS water testing and $5,000 for bottled-water services to residents.
